WE WOULD LIKE TO EPOXY OUR BASEMENT FLOOR. WHAT PRODUCTS WOULD YOU RECOMMEND. WHATS THE LIFE OF THE PRODUCT?
19 November 2009 - AMHERST

Dr. Joe's Reply   Rustoleum EpoxyShield is highly recommended for basement floors, and when properly applied will give many years of service-depending on the severity of use, it will easily last 10-15 years or longer.

I wish to treat "YellaWood" pressure treated pine, some of which is treated with micronized copper quaternary & some with micronized copper azole (both AA-696); some has weathered nearly 18 months and some was installed within this month. What is the most appropriate semi-transparent product to apply to either or both of these woods?
15 July 2009 - Leesville Lake, VA

Dr. Joe's Reply   A top quality water based semi-transparent stain, such as STORM STAIN will perform well over this type of treated wood, both weathered and relatively new. You may see a significant color difference over the two surfaces, however. To minimize this, it would be best to use a darker semi-tranparent stain, rather than a lighter colored one.

I have purchased an old house with a metal roof starting to rust. Do you have a paint that is self priming needing only one coat. Does the roof have to be cleaned before painting. The roof is very steep and I would like to get it presentable with only one cover.
19 May 2009 - Virginia

Dr. Joe's Reply   Since the metal roof has started to rust, it will be necessary to thoroughly clean it, pressure washing if possible. At a minimum, a rust preventative primer should be applied to any areas of rust, then a coat of roof enamel. Unfortunately, no single coat of paint will provide long term protection.

What is the warranty on the PPG 2021 clear coat?
11 May 2009 - Concord

Dr. Joe's Reply   When the PPG 2021 clearcoat is applied by a certified painter or certified body shop, in accordance with the manufacturers specifications, it is warranted for life (for as long as you own the vehicle).

I painted my bedroom with a color named "Faded Jeans". Is that color still available or replaced by another name?
11 April 2009 - Greenville,NC

Dr. Joe's Reply   While the color Faded Jeans is from an older color deck, it is still available. Your local Davis Paint dealer may be able to look it up. If not, tell him that it is color number 8503M, and the formula for one gallon is B-Y8, E-44 made in a medium base.
