The James T. Davis Story


Davis paint was founded in 1938 by James T. Davis, Sr. when he opened a single store in downtown Lynchburg, Virginia. In 1966 property was purchased on Candler’s Mountain Road and in 1967 a paint manufacturing facility was built. Following in 1980, James T. Davis Paint Center retail location was opened. In 1995 Davis Paint and James T. Davis retail were acquired by Cal and Denise Henning and their business partner David Boie. After more than 70 years of conducting business in Lynchburg, James T. Davis is Lynchburg’s premier paint center.
